This LA neighborhood started out with the name Zelzah, but in 1929 locals adopted the moniker North Los Angeles as a way of hitching their little community to the big city’s coattails. After nearly 10 years of confusion, the community was renamed Northridge CA in 1938. Today Northridge CA is known as a highly diverse but not too densely populated neighborhood that is a nice place to live in LA. It is home to California State University Northridge.
